Hello! I'm John Sieve

Recent applied mathematics graduate from UCLA, seeking a role in data analytics.

My Education

Throughout my academic journey, each of my experiences has solidified my passion for using data to solve real world problems. From my undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, I developed a profound interest in the applications of higher-level mathematics. This curiosity propelled me to delve into the intricate world of computing and analytics, where I established my skills in Python, embraced the art of mathematical modeling, and solidified my aptitude to learn.

My coursework has introduced me to the fields of statistics, finance, physics, and chemistry, however, my focus naturally gravitated towards the dynamic and intertwined field of machine learning and data science. By engaging in undergraduate projects ranging from constructing OCR image recognition models during my data science internship at Winosaurus, to leading a team in creating a penguin species classification model, I found my stride in working with others to wrangle data and derive tangible outcomes. Now, my sights are set on establishing a robust professional foundation in data analytics as a stepping stone towards realizing my aspiration of becoming a proficient data scientist.

My Projects and Goals

My projects reflect a hands-on approach to applying mathematical concepts and computational skills. During my time at Winosaurus, I crafted a framework to enhance an OCR image recognition model, showcasing my ability to produce practical applications. The penguin classification project demonstrated my proficiency in implementing machine learning techniques for accurate species prediction. In a research capacity, at DataRes, I delved into social network classification, employing graph neural networks to analyze and uncover hidden relationships within interconnected networks.

Currently, I am actively creating projects, such as the ones featured on this website, that focus on analytics and storytelling through data. Additionally, I enjoy spending time playing and creating music, working out, and taking walks with my dog Daisy. As a driven learner and creator, I am always eager to take on new challenges and explore opportunities to contribute to innovative projects and establish my professional path of becoming a data professional. Feel free to explore my portfolio and reach out at my email or socials below for inquiries or my full resume. Go Bruins!
